Basil was a guard at Rock Hall when Turner staged his bloodless coup against the king Hickory.
After Turner returned, he doubted his ability, and convinced Turner that he(Turner) was not fit for the throne.
It is not clear on whether he remained as a guard after the events of Lugaru.
